Online Bike Fit: everything you need to know

An Online Bike Fit is a remote fitting option designed for riders who are confident making their own adjustments, or for those looking for guidance around a Zwift Bike setup. This service provides expert guidance, analysis, and recommendations, without the need for an in-person appointment.

When done properly, an online bike fit can be a very effective way to refine comfort, efficiency, and position. However, because adjustments are made by you, it’s important to understand what this service includes, what’s required, and where its limitations lie.

Who an Online Bike Fit is for

This option is best suited to riders who:

  • Are comfortable adjusting their own bike - this is super important as there are risks associated with over/under tightening bolts (Please note that by booking an online bike fit, you are accepting this risk and Baseline is not responsible)

  • Understand basic bike setup and measurements

  • Have access to a stationary trainer and video analysis capability

It is not recommended for new riders or those dealing with complex injuries that require hands-on assessment.

What’s Included

Your Online Bike Fit includes:

  • A detailed pre-fit intake covering your bike setup, riding history, and goals

  • Video analysis of your position while riding on a stationary trainer

  • Recommendations for saddle height, setback, reach, saddle angle, cleat position, and cockpit setup

  • Clear explanation of why changes are suggested and how to trial them progressively

  • Note: Stack changes are likely to be provided as recommendations only, due to the complexity of these adjustments. This does not include Zwift bikes.

All guidance is tailored to your riding goals and comfort, with a focus on efficiency and injury prevention.

What You’ll Need

To get the most out of your session, you’ll need:

  • A stationary trainer for steady, repeatable riding

  • A stable camera or phone setup to capture clear footage

  • Appropriate bike tools to make adjustments - a torque wrench is strongly recommended

  • Time and patience to trial changes gradually

Accurate setup and clear footage are essential for meaningful analysis.

Important Considerations and Risks

Because this is a remote service:

  • All physical adjustments are performed by you

  • Baseline provides guidance and recommendations, but does not physically handle your bike

  • We recommend using a torque wrench to ensure bolts are tightened correctly

  • Baseline cannot accept responsibility for issues arising from incorrect installation or adjustment

Stack changes are provided as guidance only and are often best completed by a qualified bike shop, as they may involve cutting steerers, reconfiguring spacers, or more complex hardware changes.

How to Get the Best Results

Online bike fitting works best when:

  • Changes are introduced one at a time

  • You allow your body time to adapt before judging the outcome

  • You communicate clearly about how each change feels

If something doesn’t feel right, adjustments can be refined, or we can discuss whether an in-person fit would be more appropriate.

When an In-Person Fit is Better

An in-person bike fit may be more suitable if:

  • This is your first bike fit or you’re new to riding

  • You are unsure or just damn intimidated on how to make adjustments yourself (totally fair!)

  • You’re dealing with ongoing or complex pain or injuries

  • You want real-time testing of multiple components

If you’re unsure which option is right for you, feel free to get in touch before booking.
